Evaluating Raw Footage: YouTube Scene
The first recording of the films opening scene was successfully recorded after the second attempt of filming the scene. The characters were not showing an extensive amount of gestures during the footage, and they appear to have little movement in the scene, therefore we will not be using this footage.
During the wacky time scene (1:14-1:17) the character Arnie has been cut out of the footage, because the camera is positioned too high so that you cannot see the character head. It is important to keep the character fitting in the scene when he says wacky time, to keep the mood and so that we can see the other two characters in the background when they set off the party poppers.
The footage has a grainy texture which has been implemented purposely for this scene as it is supposed to look like a youtube video which the 3 pranksters have uploaded, this is why the quality has been made to look lower during the scene of the youtube video (whacky time.) The characters party popper did go off, (1:34-1:37) therefore this footage is not usable.
This footage did have all of the scene recorded correctly. However, this footage did not have enough high-key lighting, so it doesn't look as natural as it should for the daylight situation. The low-key lighting in the scene does reinforce the idea of the youtube video being seen as a threat, and for this reason it could be usable.
The characters in this footage did not seem as threatening as they should in the youtube video, however the high-lighting makes the protagonists stand out and it shows their authority and importance in the film trailer. The party popper did not go off in this scene so it would not be usable
This scene has too much low-key lighting which is preventing us from being able to see all of the protagonists as clearly as we would like to in this scene. We have a pan shot which is too slow to keep up with the characters who are running and the camera looses balance which makes it look un-steady. The wind can be heard quite loudly in this scene which would mean the audio would have to be removed making the scene loose verisimilitude.
This scene is too dark due to the low-key lighting which is in the footage. The footage would look much better if we could see the protagonists more clearly, and if the pan was smoother because it looks jolted. Also the vehicles which drive past during the footage makes us focus on them rather than the characters during this scene in the montage. The panning jolts was caused by the
